Privacy Policy
This policy explains how The Context Shift ("we", "us") handles information through our Meta app (App ID 1673739094399730), which we use to manage our own Facebook Page, "The Context Shift". We have written it in plain language.
Who we are
The Context Shift is an animated explainer brand run by an individual creator based in Bangladesh. It publishes videos on YouTube (@thecontextshift) and on the Facebook Page The Context Shift.
What the app is for
The app is a private, internal tool. Only the owner of The Context Shift uses it. It runs on our own server and connects to Meta's APIs with a business system-user token for our Page. We use it to:
- publish, schedule, edit and manage posts on our own Facebook Page;
- read comments and reactions on our Page's own posts so we can reply to and moderate them;
- read aggregated Page insights (for example reach, views and engagement totals) to understand how our content is doing.
The app does not offer "Log in with Facebook" or any other sign-in to the public. It does not ask visitors for any personal information, and this website does not use forms, accounts, or tracking cookies.
What information the app can access
Through Meta's APIs, and only for our own Page, the app can access:
- Page content: our own posts, videos and their settings.
- Comments and reactions on our posts: the comment text, the time it was posted, and the public name and ID that Meta provides for the person who commented or reacted.
- Page insights: aggregated statistics that Meta provides about our Page and posts. These are totals and summaries, not individual profiles.
We do not access your private messages, friend lists, email address, phone number, or any information from your own Facebook profile beyond what Meta shows publicly with a comment or reaction on our Page.
How we use it
We use this information only to run our Page: to reply to comments, to hide or remove spam and abusive comments, and to learn which videos people find useful. We do not use it for advertising profiles, and we do not try to identify people outside of Facebook.
No sale or sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade any information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or other third parties. The information stays between our Page and Meta. Meta processes data under its own Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it
We keep as little as possible. Comment and reaction data is read when needed and is not built into a separate database of people. Short-lived working copies and logs on our server are kept only as long as needed to run the Page and are then deleted. Aggregated insight figures (which do not identify anyone) may be kept to track our channel's performance over time. If you ask us to delete data related to you, we will do so as described on our Data Deletion page.
Security
The app's access token is kept on our server and is not shared. Only the owner of The Context Shift can use the app.
Children
Our content is for a general audience. The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Facebook itself requires users to meet its minimum age. If you believe a child's information has reached us, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and how to request deletion
- You can delete or edit your own comments on our Page at any time on Facebook.
- You can ask us to delete any data related to you that we hold. See the step-by-step User Data Deletion instructions. In short: email CONTACT_EMAIL_PLACEHOLDER with the subject "Data deletion request", and we will respond within 30 days.
- You can also ask us what data related to you we hold.
Where we operate
The Context Shift is run from Bangladesh, and this policy is provided in that context. Meta may process data in other countries under its own terms.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app works or what it accesses, we will update this page and change the effective date above.
